Hockey
Hockey is a year-round commitment for Calgary athletes. Hip, groin, knee, and shoulder issues are what we see most — and we know how to get you back on the ice.
Hockey places unique demands on the body — explosive lateral movement, high-speed collisions, and the skating stride all put specific stress on the hips, groin, knees, and lower back. At Action Sports Clinic, we treat hockey players from minor hockey through to adult competitive leagues, and we understand the on-ice demands that rehab needs to match.
Our Approach
Hip and groin rehabilitation is a specialty of ours — we see more hockey groin injuries than almost any other clinic in Calgary. We use a combination of manual therapy, IMS, progressive strength loading, and skating biomechanics analysis to ensure full return to your level of play — not just pain-free movement on dry land.
Common Hockey Injuries We Treat
Hip & Groin Injuries (Hockey Groin)
Sports hernia and adductor strains are among the most common hockey injuries. We provide progressive hip and groin rehabilitation with return-to-ice milestones.
Knee Sprains & Ligament Injuries
Board and collision contact knee injuries including MCL sprains and ACL tears. Full rehabilitation to return-to-ice.
Shoulder Separations & Dislocations
Collision and fall-related shoulder injuries managed conservatively or post-surgically with sport-specific return protocols.
Lower Back Pain
The forward-flexed skating posture loads the lumbar spine. Manual therapy, IMS, and posture correction.
Adductor & Groin Strains
Acute and chronic adductor injuries from the push-off demands of skating. Soft tissue therapy and progressive loading.
Ankle Injuries
Ligament sprains and chronic instability from skate boot mechanics and ice contact.
